Want six more weeks of summer?

Peachtree Corners Events for the Week of August 7, 2022

Vacation is Over, Summer is Not

And just like that it’s August.

August is a weird month. According to my kids, “summer is over.” But it’s not really over until late September. Which I tried explaining to my 6-year old, but his eyes glazed over after I said, “Actually…”

Parent-splaining, right??

It’s still 98-degrees outside. The pool is still open. The flies are still reproducing at an exponential rate in my trash can. So, yeah. Six more weeks of summer.

And things are still happening in The Corners.

Let’s discuss.

Peachtree Corners Events

Friday, August 5th

Kettlerock Brewing has Teacher Appreciation Day starting at 4:00. They should probably do this every Friday. Can I get an “amen?”

And The Forum is hosting Friday Night Live from 5:30–7:30 pm. This week it’s a couple of lovely, wholesome-looking kids who call themselves “James and Julia.” I’m guessing that’s what their parents call them too.

If you’re looking for something more PG-13, The Breakfast Club is playing at Thrasher Park in Norcross. The ‘80s cover band, not the movie. But they’ll cover most of the soundtrack.

Saturday, August 6th

Flicks on the Green starts at 7:00 pm. The feature this week is Megamind. Literally never heard of it, but the cast (of voices) is incredible. I was definitely not into animated movies in 2010.

Thursday, August 11th

Six Bridges Brewing is hosting a Friends Trivia Night at 7:00 pm. Apparently the show is enjoying a resurgence in popularity, so the competition may be fierce.

Friday, August 12th

Round two of Friday Night Live goes down at The Forum. This time it’s an equally-wholesome looking young blues trio known as Hughes Taylor.

And at 8:00 pm, Anderby Brewing has the Hissy Fit Comedy Show. I love when people bring back phrases my great-grandmother used to say!

Saturday, August 13th

Next up at the Town Green is Wildflowers, who bill themselves as, “America’s #1 tribute to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.” I will be there to verify this claim. And to witness all the suburban moms dancing to “American Girl.”

What about __________?

This is just (my biased selection of) the highlights, but there are a lot more events around the 30092. Check out the calendar for the full list.

Quick poll. Favorite “school-themed” movie:

  • Back to School

  • Billy Madison

  • Dazed and Confused

  • _______________

I gave you the best three, of course. But hit “reply” and fill in the blank with your vote.

The best response gets a free subscription to gift to a neighbor.

Until next time!
