The Great Sugar Swap

Speaking of people, we are raising two miniature human beings in my house. The morning after Halloween, we successfully executed a play known as the “candy swap” with these small creatures. The way this works is they pick out ten pieces of candy they want to keep, and then they “swap” the rest for a new toy that’s not loaded with sugar.

Except now we have two giant bags of candy stashed away that I feel compelled to not waste. So this “deal” cost me more money and a lot more calories.

I’m not sure who came out on top.

Wow. The calendar is completely bare. So how about a random story instead?

While the kids were trick-or-treating on Tuesday, I sat at the bottom of our driveway with buckets of candy on the ground in front of me. I let the Marios and princesses and ninjas take their own candy.

One or two pieces seem to be the universally accepted, appropriate amount of candy to take.

A few kids asked, “How many pieces can I take?” So I said, “Whatever you’re comfortable with. Just use your own moral judgment.”

I’ve never seen so many confused 3-year-olds in my life.
