Did the city approve a drive through daiquiri window?
No. They did not. But there are some just-as-exciting things going on around town this week!

The Drive-Through Business Boom

Sometimes these newsletters just write themselves!
Remember a few months ago when the same group that developed Avalon bought The Forum? When they promised to give the place a major facelift? And to expand Lululemon to take over the entire Belk space?
Well, it’s happening!
Okay. Maybe not the Lulu takeover. But, last night the Peachtree Corners City Council did approve both rezoning requests.
I’m sure the meeting was as pleasant as it was long 🙃
But don’t worry. I’m here to gain subscribers, not lose them. So we’ll leave the whole “apartment” discussion for Boomer Twitter Nextdoor.
What caught this aspiring comedian’s attention was this: “There would be accommodations for up to two drive-thru type retailers, such as a Starbucks.”
Or how about something other than YET ANOTHER STARBUCKS??
Come on. Do better, Peachtree Corners!
The possibilities of businesses that could benefit from a drive-through window are endless. So I threw some ideas out to my neighbors to start the SMS brainstorming session. Here’s what we’ve got so far:
Drive-through daiquiri stand (NOLA!)
Checkers (am I the only one that misses that place?)
[Flavor of the month] pandemic testing
New location for the recently-closed Love Shack
Seriously. Let’s class the place up a bit!
Hit “reply” and let me give me your best idea.
Peachtree Corners Events
Since the intro was longer than usual, I’ll abbreviate the event listings. Go to the calendar for a full rundown.
The Top Three
This week’s Friday Night Live at The Forum features The Bourbon Brothers
Anderby Brewing has live music on Saturday night from Six Degree Tilt (‘90s alternative and grunge? You’re speaking my love language.)
The Summer Concert Series returns to the Town Green with Stayin’ Alive, a Bee Gees tribute (This is the opposite of my love language)
Next Week’s Events
Wednesday, August 31st
Sports on the Screen returns to the Town Green with the first round of the U.S. Open (¡Vamos, Rafa!)
Friday, September 2nd
Friday Night Live has afternoon music from Jacob Harshman
Norcross has the Voltage Brothers in concert at Thrasher Park
Saturday, September 3rd
Anderby Brewing has “upbeat and energetic” music from Fatback Deluxe (which is also the opposite of my ‘90s alternative love language)
The Town Green is showing Captain America on the big screen
From the Earth Brewing’s Back Porch Concert Series returns with Tribute: A Celebration of the Allman Brothers Band (along with special guest, Harvest Moon, because Neil Young isn’t earning royalties from Spotify anymore)
And that’s a wrap.
This is the time of year when things start to slow down. So, if you know of any events that THE ENTIRE CITY should know about, send them my way.
I’ll make sure at least 243 residents hear about it!
If you need me, you can find me perusing the Nextdoor Apartment Wars.
