This Week in Peachtree Corners: Back to School
For the Week of August 8, 2021
.
Some people do their best work when the pressure is on. When there’s not enough time to do all that needs to be done. When the deadline is yesterday.
At least that’s what I told myself in college at 2:00am the night before my final exams.
But we’re gonna go with it. Because I didn’t have enough time to meticulously craft the newsletter this week.
You’ve been warned!
Back to School
For those of you with school-aged kids, you now have your full-time, tax-funded babysitters back. Now you actually get a vacation!
Most Gwinnett County schools started back this week (judging by the reverse beeper on the school bus in my cul de sac at 6:28am on the dot every single day). This also means there aren’t any major events to announce this week.
But don’t worry. We’ll start highlighting PTA meetings and virtual learning days soon!
And now Billy Madison will transition us to the event lineup:

Peachtree Corners Events
Here’s what’s happening in and around Peachtree Corners. Check out the calendar for a full list of events.
Friday, August 6th
The next Summer Concert Series is happening in Norcross with the band A1A. Who doesn’t like to sing along to Margaritaville?
Saturday, August 7th
Flicks on the Green returns to PTC Town Center. They’ll be showing Thor on the big screen.
And The Red Clay Music Foundry is bringing Forever Abbey Road to the stage. I personally like Sgt. Pepper better. No hate mail please.
Saturday, August 14th
Light Up The Corners is a 4-mile fun (?) run. It takes place at night with glow sticks and such. And hopefully adequate street lighting. All proceeds benefit children in need through the YMCA.
And if R.E.M. didn’t do it for you, there’s another global cover act coming to the Town Green. Out of Control is a U2 tribute band. The description on the calendar says “Only U2 does U2 better.” I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not. I just hope I don’t wake up on Sunday morning with another new U2 album forcefully added to iTunes on my phone. Again: No hate mail, please!
And that’s all. Short and sweet this week!
You’re welcome or I’m sorry.
Cheers!
