This Week in Peachtree Corners: Shiny Happy People!
For the Week of July 25, 2021
Greetings, PTC-ers!
Big things are happening in the world and in our city. If you believe they put a man on the moon, then you should look at making an emergency withdrawal from your 401k to book a seat on a space flight.

And if two billionaires flying into (kinda) space isn’t exciting enough, you get to read yet another entire email littered with lyrical innuendoes.
This one goes out to the ones I love: all you shiny, happy people!
That’s Me in the Spotlight
It’s time for the next round in the Summer Concert Series at the Peachtree Corners Town Green. Dead Letter Office – A Tribute to R.E.M. takes the stage on Saturday, July 31st, with Hush Money kicking things off at 7:00pm.
One major highlight from the event details: TICKETS ARE NO LONGER REQUIRED. You can, however, start setting up chairs as early as 8:00am on game day. And if you do, could you let me know so I can send some chairs with you? I’m bullish on R.E.M., but bearish on leaving the house at 7:30am on a Saturday.
Maybe I ride, maybe you walk, maybe I drive… However you get there, just look for me in front of the stage. I’ll be easy to spot:

Note: If you do see me doing this, then no, I do not need another beer. That’s just me losing my religion. Whatever that means. I’m sure it’s metaphorical. (And yes, I had to Google “dead letter office.” That’s what happens when you only know the hits.)
Here are a few more things in store for the week to come!
This Week’s Events
Friday, July 23rd
Kick off the weekend with Food Truck Friday in downtown Duluth. There’s live music and…food trucks. And probably drink trucks.
Or head over to Thrasher Park in Norcross and catch some live tunes from Electric Avenue.
Saturday, July 24th
Cheer on Atlanta United on the big screen at the Town Green. It’s a 3:30pm kick off. Ball drop. Face off. First kick. (I should learn the proper soccer terminology before my 5-year old starts playing in a few weeks.)
Later that evening, the Red Clay Music Foundry is hosting The Mad Hatters – A Tribute to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. I love tribute bands. There should be a Sir Mix-a-Lot tribute.
Sunday, July 25th
High Gravity Comedy returns to Six Bridges Brewing. Six comics. Unlimited beers (for a price).
And this is your last chance to catch Shawn Mullins as he performs his final encore at Red Clay Music Foundry. This is NOT a tribute act. It’s the real deal.
Wednesday, July 28th
Downtown Duluth is hosting a Back to School Bubblepalooza with bubbles, yard games, and a DJ. Pretty hoppin’ for 11:00am on a Wednesday!
Friday, July 30th
Duluth kicks off the weekend again with Block Party on Main. It’s like last Friday’s except with tons of activities for the whole family. Think zip lines, bumper cars, and carnival games. And it’s all FREE, apparently. It doesn’t even say you have to pay City of Duluth excise taxes or anything.
There’s also plenty more live music to go around at all the local breweries. Check out the calendar for more details.
Saturday, July 31st
To prep for the big show, Six Bridges Brewing is hosting a cornhole tournament at 1:00pm.
And then, of course, the R.E.M. tribute band closes down the bar. Or the Town Center, rather. Hopefully not too late since you set up my chairs for me at 8:00am. (Thanks in advance.)
Oh, no. I’ve said too much.
Seriously. I have to come up with a whole new batch of lyrical innuendoes next week, so I need to stop now.
Have a great weekend!
