What's Happening in Peachtree Corners

For the Week of July 4, 2021

This Week in Peachtree Corners

Hello, fellow PTC-liens! PTC-aliens. PTC…iens.

Nope. Not working.

Let’s kick off the Superbowl of Summer with this:

Other than Friday, it looks like we’re set up for success (and possibly heat stroke) this holiday weekend! Which is a good thing because there’s a lot going on.

Nothing says “America” like cookouts, pools, popsicles, sunburns, and fireworks that go on way too late in the cul de sac.

And Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest. Although Joey Chestnut is like the Alabama of competitive eating and everyone is tired of watching him win every year and he has to be cheating or something. But I digress.

Let’s start this week’s events with one of those “made up for marketing purposes” fake holidays (like Bobby Bonilla Day).

National Independent Beer Run Day

I’m not making this up. Saturday, July 3rd has been dubbed National Independent Beer Run Day by the federal government (aka The Brewers Association).

But CALM DOWN. There’s no actual running involved.

The goal is to encourage you to make your beer run the day before Independence Day. And more importantly to stock up for the holiday at your local “independent” brewery. (These marketing folks are so clever.)

So someone invents a holiday. Breweries offer deals. And we reap the rewards.

I have no problem with this. And at least a couple of our local breweries have bought in.

Six Bridges Brewing is offering 10% off 6-packs and 4-packs.

Kettlerock Brewing has 10% off crowlers and growlers.

So fill up your coolers and choose from any of these events on tap!

Saturday, July 3rd

Red, White and BOOM! It’s a downtown Norcross block party. And it’s the only formal event I could find in the area with fireworks. Plus, you still get the 4th to play with small explosives yourself!

Gr8fldude and the Token Rhyme plays all your Grateful Dead favorites at From The Earth Brewing. No fireworks that I’m aware of.

Or for something more low-kay, you can watch Hook at the Town Green. Again, no fireworks.

Sunday, July 4th

[Editor’s note: Leave this section blank because for some reason no one is throwing an event to celebrate America on her actual birthday that involves ridiculous fireworks displays. Insert mind-blown emoji.]

Monday, July 5th

Start your day off from work with a Triples Tennis Tournament at Jones Bridge Swim and Tennis. It’s open to members and non-members alike! Check out the flyer in the link for more info.

Friday, July 9th

Next in line for the Summer Concert Series in Norcross is the party band, No Limits. Admission is free and the music starts at 7:30pm at Thrasher Park.

Saturday, July 10th

Fermentation Fit Camp w/ Eat The Frog Fitness at Six Bridges Brewing. That’s a long, obscure title. Let me translate: Show up at 10:00am in your best Lulu, sweat for an hour, then drink the beer you just earned by exercising.

Tools for Schools is collecting school supplies for Gwinnett kids in need. Drop off some Trapper Keepers and and Mr. Sketch scented markers in the roundabout at The Forum. Check out the link for a full list of supplies.

The next local act takes over the Town Green at 7:00pm. Check out the Sawgrass Blues Band from nearby Roswell. No tickets required!

And that’s a wrap!

It’s also way more work than I wanted to do on the day before the day before the day before the holiday. You’re welcome.

Until next time! And here’s a slightly-modified photo from the concert last Saturday:
