This Week in Peachtree Corners
For the Week of June 27, 2021
Hello, Peachtree Corners. And hello, Summer!
I’m talking about the season, not a person. I don’t know why I capitalized it. But if someone named Summer reads this newsletter, then hello to you, too!
The first day of summer was last Sunday. Which is weird because it always feels like summer starts in early May. But that means no one can correct us anymore: It’s technically still spring.
I may or may not have done such things in the past.
Summer also means the calendar is filling up with things to do. Add a splash of normalcy and we have a frozen cocktail recipe for FUN!
Let’s hit it.
More Cowbell
See how I added a link to the word “calendar?” That’s because I added a calendar to the website. I have one that I use to track events and keep up with everything, so I figured I’d just make it public.
You should still read the emails, though. Don’t make me delete it.
As I was adding events this week, I noticed there was a TON of live music. Not just the patio rock stars with acoustic guitars and drum machines. We’re talking about actual concerts at actual venues!
That’s what we’ve needed for over a year now: more cowbell.
This Week’s Events
Friday, June 25th
Downtown Norcross has its own Summer Concert Series. Bands hit the stage at Thrasher Park every other Friday through the end of summer (the season). Tomorrow night it’s Rupert’s Orchestra.
Saturday, June 26th
The Suwanee Beer Fest didn’t hit my radar last week. Probably because it’s a half-hour away. But while checking out all the local breweries for new events I noticed they were ALL going to this. So I got curious. Clicked on the link. Checked out the website. And saw that there’s a Bon Jovi tribute band AND a 90’s alt-rock cover band playing!
So yeah. Now it’s on my radar. And yours!
On the Border delivers some Peaceful Easy Feelings at the Town Green. Music starts at 7:00pm.
Or for something more laid back, Jazz in the Alley takes place at Betty Mauldin Park in Norcross.
Sunday, June 27th
High Gravity Comedy returns to Six Bridges Brewing in John’s Creek. Six comedians. Fifteen minute sets. And unlimited beer! (For a small fee.)
Wednesday, June 30th
The Norcross Community Market pops up every Wednesday at Social Fox Brewing. But the name is a little modest. It’s WAY more than just a market. They have local farmers, live music, art, kids’ activities, food, and beer (of course)! That way you’ll buy more food and splurge on some expensive art.
Saturday, July 3rd
Red, White and BOOM! Celebrate Independence Day at this downtown Norcross block party! It’s everything you can imagine: food, drinks, bounce houses, live music, face painting, and things that go boom.
If east isn’t your thing, then head west to From The Earth Brewing for a (wait for it)…live concert! Gr8fldude and the Token Rhyme will serenade all you Dead Heads in the parking lot at 8:00pm.
If you’re tired of hearing about music, then may we interest you in a movie? Watch Hook on the big screen at the Town Green.
Sunday, July 4th
Well, it’s Independence Day, but I couldn’t find anything going on in our little zip code. I guess this night is reserved for dads who want to impress each other in the cul de sac with minor explosives.
It’s also the night our dogs freak out and keep us up all night.
Did I mention there’s a calendar on the website?
It’s right here. As I learn about more things going on, I’ll only highlight the one-time events in the newsletter. Smaller weekly events like yoga and trivia will live on the calendar.
And I’m trying to add more to the site and Facebook page to make PTC Weekly even more valuable for you. Just. Need. More. Time.
But for now it’s summertime. Live easy!
