What do you do with your leaves?

For the Week of November 14, 2021

This Week in Peachtree Corners

Something has been bugging me for YEARS. Something I can’t seem to work out on my own. So we’re gonna figure this out right here in this little newsletter.

What is my source of deep-seated rage? It’s when people blow leaves out of their yard and into the street. And then leave them there.

What’s the thought process here?

Maybe the passing cars blow them off into someone else’s yard. Maybe the rain washes them down the storm sewers and clogs them up. Maybe the chemicals in the asphalt speed up the decomposition process and they’re gone in a matter of hours. Who cares? Not my problem. My yard looks great!

Is this something that should bother me in the grand scheme of things? Probably not. But I also rage internally when people park in the fire lane at Ingles. And when they put towels on the lounge chairs at 7:00am to “reserve” them and then don’t get to the pool until noon. And when they don’t turn left on the flashing yellow turn signal with no oncoming traffic when the sign clearly states you can turn left on the flashing yellow signal.

We all have our issues, right?

I know blowing leaves out into the street doesn’t really impact my life directly. And that’s why I’m leaving my final opinion in YOUR hands. So let’s do this:

Is it a perfectly fine and respectable practice to blow leaves out of one’s yard and into the street to let someone else deal with them? (Click to vote.)

If you think I framed this survey in such a way that simply reinforces my predetermined opinions, trust your instincts.

(And a disclaimer for my personal safety: I don’t know anyone what does this! 😂)

Peachtree Corners Events

Here’s what’s happening in and around Peachtree Corners. Check out the calendar for a full list of events.

Saturday, November 13th

Get your holiday shopping started by hitting up downtown Norcross’s Holiday Merchants Open House. Sipping cocktails while shopping is a great way to blow your gift budget in early November!

And of course the Town Green is showing UGA v. Tennessee at 3:30pm. Maybe that noxious faded orange color will blend in with the leaves. (The ones still on the trees. The ones someone blew out into the street are now clogging a storm sewer after last night’s rain.)

Sunday, November 14th

Six Bridges Brewing is hosting a Cornhole tournament benefiting The Younique Foundation. Check it out and go support a great cause!

A Few Recurring Things to Get You Through the Workweek

Saturday, November 20th

Georgia Tech v. Notre Dame is on the big screen at 2:30pm. Notre Dame is “officially” 28-6-1 in the series dating back to 1922. But that’s wrong because Rudy was offsides.

So why did the newsletter go out on Friday this week? No good reason. Just trying something new.

Next week I’ll publish a list of everyone who unsubscribes this week. Then you’ll know who’s blowing their leaves out into the street!

Just kidding. Because privacy and stuff.

And also I'm just having fun. Let's still be friends! 🤗

xoxo
