Week of November 21, 2021

Do you love lists as much as I do?

For the Week of November 21, 2021

This Week in Peachtree Corners

It’s that time of year again!

It seems like it comes faster and faster every year. And I LOVE it!

That’s right. It’s list season!

Thanksgiving dinner grocery lists. Christmas shopping lists. New year resolution lists. Things-to-do-before-a-million-people-come-to-our-house lists. What-the-hell-to-do-with-the-kids-while-they’re-out-of-school-for-seventeen-weeks lists.

I love lists. I use four different color-coded composition notebooks to keep track of all my lists. Because I also love writing by hand. And then I transfer them to Evernote because I ALSO like redundancy.

I also like them because they take up a lot of screen space and there’s a real lack of local events on the calendar this week.

Let’s kick off “list season” with an obvious one: Things I’m Thankful For!

I’m thankful for:

  • The Lululemon “pop up” store at The Forum being popped up indefinitely

  • AirPod Pros with built-in noise (scream) canceling

  • The never-ending bull market (sorry I jinxed it)

  • Amazon Fire kids’ tablets

  • The Braves bringing home some hardware

  • Sam Adams Winter Lager

  • Zero unsubscribes after last week’s newsletter

This is gonna be a fun month. Get ready for more lists!

And in the meantime, may we never forget the greatest rebranding of a holiday since Festivus: Slapsgiving!

Peachtree Corners Events

Here’s what’s happening in and around Peachtree Corners. Check out the calendar for a full list of events.

Saturday, November 20th

The event formerly known as Sports on the Screen is changing things up a bit this week. Instead of a football game, they’re showing an improv comedy sketch called,  “Georgia Tech v. Notre Dame.”

Thursday, November 25th

Uhhh, yeah. Everything is closed except Waffle House. Because it’s Thanksgiving and you should be spending it with your lovely families. So eat, drink, and be merry!

If you just HAVE to get out of the house, I’m sure the “Running of the Wal-Mart Shoppers” is happening, as usual. But that’s why God invented Amazon.

Friday, November 26th

If you can roll yourself out of bed on Friday morning, go burn off some calories at the next tennis triples event. 10:00am at Jones Bridge Swim and Tennis. $10 for members and $15 for non-members.

Saturday, November 27th

Time for some Clean, Old-Fashioned Dislike at Sports on the Screen (we don’t say “hate”) as UGA visits Georgia Tech. And by “visit” I mean, like, really visit. Like move in, fill up 90% of the seats, put their dirty shoes on the couch, and drink all the beer. The time is still listed as TBD on the city calendar, but I can promise you it will be a nooner. I’m not even going to Google it to confirm.

I lied. I Googled it. It’s noon. Trust your gut!

After that (debacle), head across the street (interstate) to Lights Up at The Forum. (Time to get your tax money’s worth and use that pedestrian bridge.) They’ll have live music, hot chocolate, local vendors, every major Christmas figurehead you can imagine, and of course a tree-lighting.

So, yeah. About last week’s poll. If you read this far then you must want to know the results.

Let’s just say a slight majority favored not blowing leaves out into the street. And by “slight” I mean 100% of respondents voted “no.”

If you’re looking for a consultant to psychology some people and frame a survey in such a way that you get the exact results you’re looking for, give me a shout! (I can also teach you how to use a noun as a verb, like “psychology.”)

See you right back here in two weeks.

Happy Slapsgiving!
