Week of October 24, 2021
Will You Overcommit this Halloween Season?
For the Week of October 24, 2021
This Week in Peachtree Corners
Happy Thursday, PTC!
Intros are hard. First impressions are so important. You want to hook the reader and draw them in so they keep reading. Not in a manipulative way, of course.
But this week I’m drawing a blank. Nothing witty or clever or juicy for the intro.
So how about this: Thanks for reading!
Now let’s jump into the long list of upcoming events.
Peachtree Corners Events
Here’s what’s happening in and around Peachtree Corners. Check out the calendar for a full list of events.
Friday and Saturday, October 22nd and 23rd
Corners Fine Wine & Spirits is hosting Tailgatin’ on the Turf on Friday and Saturday from 5:00-7:00pm. Enjoy some local craft beers, food vendors, wine tastings, and standing around on grass instead of asphalt (which is much better for my arthritis). And it wouldn’t be a tailgate without lawn games: beer pong, giant Jenga, and cornhole (no, it’s not “bags”). I guess it’s BYOLD: Bring Your Own Lawn Darts.
Saturday, October 23rd
The PTC Town Green is hosting a special Sports on the Screen – Deluxe Edition. The games are still TBD. UGA is off this week. Georgia Tech drew the primetime national TV time slot at 7:30pm (#bigtime) to compete against Alabama and Auburn for viewers (#fail). So the PTCW can’t even come up with a good guess on what games they’ll show. Maybe Squid Game. Just make sure the kids are at the obstacle course.
There’s also the groundbreaking ceremony/party for Peachtree Farms, Tailgate for Tomatoes. The hotdogs are free, and the pumpkin carving contest will be fierce. It’s BYOBLWS (beer-wine-liquor-seltzers…gotta be inclusive), so be careful with the carving knives.
Or check out the Norcross 150th (Plus One) Birthday Celebration from 4:00-10:00pm. That’s 151. I did the math in my head. There’s food trucks, live music, fireworks, and lots of family-friendly activities not involving lawn darts.
And if you get a second wind, grab your raincoat and go see Rocky Horror Picture Show at Red Clay Foundry in Duluth. The show starts at midnight (good luck). Apparently there’s a shadow cast performing and they encourage the use of “props.” Seriously, if anyone can explain the appeal of RHPS, please let me know. It sounds like something that could be raided by the cops.
Sunday, October 24th
To kick off Halloween Week, Six Bridges Brewing is hosting All Horrors Eve: A True Crime Event at 7:00pm. All it says is that a former homicide detective will be talking about a bunch of “infamous Halloween murders.” I hope it’s just about Jason Voorhees, Freddy Kreuger, and Michael Myers. Because the last thing I want to hear about is one my neighbors chaining people up in their basement and stealing their candy.
Friday, October 29th
The Duluth Town Green invites you and your furry friends to Howl on the Green from 6:00-10:00pm. They’ll have trick-or-treating, a costume contest, and several live performances. I assume it’s an inclusive event and you can bring your cat or hamster, provided they’re on a leash. Though “howl” does insinuate dogs. But it’s also a Halloweenish word too. Your call.
Saturday, October 30th
And right on queue, there’s another Sports on the Screen at the PTC Town Green. The start time still says TBD. However, the Game of the Week is GT v. Virginia Tech. Because there’s no bigger game that day (ahem, #worldslargestoutdoorcocktailparty). If that hashtag is hard to read, go slower. Oh, and what did we say last week about GT? Always bet on noon games.
Or if your kids need to prime their sugar pump a day early, Norcross is hosting Downtown Trick or Treating from 2:00-5:00pm. Go knock on the doors of all the local establishments and load up on treats. I’m sure Social Fox will be busy helping parents cope with the madness.
And yet somehow this week’s newsletter is longer than usual. Who needs clever intros, right? Especially when the events themselves just offer so much.
You know where to find me next week. Until then…
xoxo
