Week of October 31, 2021
Have you seen those terrifying, 12 foot tall skeletons?
For the Week of October 31, 2021
This Week in Peachtree Corners
Happy Halloween Eve Eve…Eve, PTC! (I think that’s right?)
I’ve got good news and bad news. I like starting with the bad news. Unless it’s like, you know, really bad. Like, “You’re fired.” Or, “Ted Lasso has been canceled.”
The bad news: We didn’t win the neighborhood award for the best Halloween decorations. I blame my kids. They just won’t leave the skeletons alone. It’s all about the staging.
The good news: The Bravos are in the World Series! It’s the first time they’ve been this far since 1999. Which was exactly half my life ago. Which all of a sudden makes me feel kinda old and now I’m starting to think this is bad news. But that’s a personal issue for me to deal with.
More good news: We split the first two games in Houston. I’ll take it! And if anyone wants to help support the founder/writer/editor-in-chief/accountant/only person at PTC Weekly, how about a couple of World Series tickets in lieu of Bitcoin?
Back to Halloween stuff. The giant 12’ skeletons at Home Depot sold out this year before I even knew they existed! I saw one in the wild last week. They’re absolutely terrifying and I absolutely LOVE them. If I can get my hands on one before next Halloween, I’ll be back in the running for the neighborhood award! (Or a HOA fine.)

They were $349 at Home Depot. Now some “skeleton flippers” are reselling them for $1100! (Side hustle alert.)
No thanks. Onto a packed week of events!
Peachtree Corners Events
Here’s what’s happening in and around Peachtree Corners. Check out the calendar for a full list of events.
Friday, October 29th
Check out Howl on the Green at the Duluth Town Green for an early sugar buzz. I’m not sure if the costume contest is for humans or dogs, but I’m guessing humans are the judges.
Saturday, October 30th
Anderby Brewing is throwing a 2nd Anniversary Halloween Party from noon until 10:00pm. They’ll have seven new beer releases, live music, food vendors, and a pumpkin carving contest. They provide the pumpkins; you provide “the tools.” So free-flowing beer plus a large crowd of people carrying carving knives. Sounds like a good plot for a horror movie.
Or, after you clean out Duluth’s candy stash on Friday night, hit up Norcross and their Downtown Trick or Treating. Because the kids won’t get enough on Sunday night.
And this week’s edition of Sports on the Screen was supposed to “feature” Virginia Tech v. Georgia Tech. Now they added the Georgia v. Florida game at 3:30pm and the Braves v. Astros at 8:00pm. Somehow I think the Town Center noon crowd will be a little sparse. Kinda like the stands at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
Friday, November 5th
Norcross is throwing its monthly First Friday Concert at Thrasher Park. Go check out The Rainmen starting at 7:00pm. And if you go, let me know how it is because I’ve never heard of them and I don’t feel like clicking through to the 27th page of Google results to read about them.
Saturday, November 6th
This is fun. The inaugural Peachtree Corners Decathlon takes place at the Town Center fitness course thingy next Saturday. You get to do a bunch of rope climbs, burpees, box jumps, and wall climbs. Then head over to the afterparty at Anderby Brewing. And the best part is I’d be in the Masters division, which is for people over 40. Or maybe that’s the worst part, actually.
That evening, Norcross is throwing a Dia de los Muertos Festival. Go get your face painted like a sugar skull and drink margaritas. (I hope the people doing the face painting are drinking margs too. Those last few sugar skulls could be amazing.)
And since you’ll already be in Norcross, check out the Day of the Dead party at Social Fox Brewing. I guess they went with the English translation to differentiate themselves from the party on the “outside.”
Finally, like every Saturday this fall, Sports on the Screen is happening at our own Town Center. This time it’s Alabama v. LSU. The time is TBD, but since LSU is a dumpster fire I’m guessing they compete with GT for that coveted noon kickoff spot.
Did you make it this far? If so, good for you!
This week’s newsletter was at least a 3-minute read. If I held your attention for that long, that means you liked it enough to consider supporting the PTC Weekly in a more impactful way.
I’m not asking for money. Just two World Series tickets, please.
K? Thanks.
Go Braves! And I hope the Astros have nightmares of this thing:
